Understanding Article Usage
The Article Usage feature checks whether the articles ‘a’ and ‘an’ are used correctly in your text. It analyzes each instance based on whether the following word begins with a vowel sound, helping you catch common mistakes like “a apple” or “an banana.”
How It Works
The feature examines your text and:
- Checks every instance of ‘a’ and ‘an’
- Verifies if the correct article is used based on the following word’s sound
- Highlights incorrect usage
- Offers one-click corrections for detected errors
Detection and Correction
When you run the Article Usage check, incorrect articles are underlined in your text. To review and fix these errors, click the “Show Results” button to open the results panel.
The panel provides a list of all detected article usage errors, with two options for each:
- Select: Highlights the error in your text for manual correction
- Fix: Automatically replaces the incorrect article with the proper one
Customization Options
In the settings panel, you can:
- Choose the underline color for highlighted incorrect articles
