August 2026 Product Update: Selection Readability and Mobile Improvements
This month, we’ve added another way to review your writing, along with an improvement to the Readability Scores view on mobile. Here’s what’s new.
🔎 Check Readability for a Selection
You can now select a paragraph or one or more sentences in the Write View and check the readability of just that selection. This makes it easier to review a specific passage without letting the rest of the document affect the result.
The selection menu shows:
- Flesch Reading Ease, with a plain-language description of the result
- Flesch-Kincaid grade level
- Automated Readability Index (ARI)
- The number of words and sentences in the selection
For a meaningful estimate, your selection needs at least 10 words and one complete sentence. We recommend selecting around 50 words or more for steadier scores; shorter samples can be more volatile.

📱 Improved Readability Scores on Mobile
We’ve also improved the Readability Scores view on mobile, making the scores easier to scan and the overall experience more comfortable on smaller screens.
🔮 What’s Coming Next
We’ll try to release a browser extension during September so you can use Gorby’s analysis in more places while you write. We’ll also be working on an improved desktop app.
🌟 Thank You!
This is a smaller update, but we hope it makes it easier to focus on the passages that matter most. Thanks for your continued support and feedback.
Happy writing!
